Groebli traveled to Paris for the first time in 1948 and spent several months in the capital of photography in 1949, where he met contemporary photographers and other artists, let himself be inspired, and captured images in the streets of Paris. He returned to Paris repeatedly in the following years, including for a belated honeymoon with his wife Rita, during which he created the famous series The Eye of Love.
